What features do you look for when choosing accounting software for small businesses?

  • I work for a company that offers simple accounting software for entrepreneurs (small business owners, startups, freelancers). Accounting doesn't have a reputation of being fun - but it can be so easy that you don't mind doing it... if you have the right software.   So what do YOU consider to be the "right" software? If accounting software could do anything to make numbers easy for you, what would it be?   What features do you look for when selecting accounting software made specifically for small businesses?       Thanks for responding :)

    customization options it is not physically possible to create an application adaptable to almost every business model, so customization in the form of being able to write own reports using all available system fields will make the software more superior automation of mind-boggling calculations pre-defined reports calculating the cashflow, cash and accrual bases, annual and quarterly statements, ability to add/ modify commission reports, flexible inventory package (too many options to list) invoicing from within the application making invoicing to be as easy as a click of a button will add immeasurable value to any accounting package new features (more complicated) would be involving linkage with online accounts such as ebay or paypal to allow invoicing and COGS accuracy
