What is an energy regime?

What are some recommended energy bars?

  • I am looking for an energy bar that can help me go through medium length (1.5h) strenuous training sessions (Brazilian Jiu Jutsu) but not cause the energy-bar-belly phenomenon (which is what happens when people pop carb-rich energy bars because they feel entitled due to their training regime). Are there any recommended ones?

  • Answer:

To be honest, I think energy bars are a waste of money. Any combination of a banana, a glass of milk (chocolate, if you'd like), and a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich will do just as well, cost less, and be healthier (by way of being less processed.) Consume about an hour, an hour-and-a-half before you train. That said, if you must use an energy bar, Clif Bars do the trick, and they taste the best (in my opinion.)

Try Sesh - the best tasting energy bars! http://seshbar.com - theoretically, only shipping in Europe though. Here is a pretty cool review of the Sesh bars: http://www.methodmag.com/content/sesh-energy-bar

Mine favorite are the Builders from Cliff. They have the right amount of calories and 100% amount of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. I don't have to worry about eating fruits every day.

I really enjoy Clif bars as they come in a huge variety of flavors, and they're all about being organic and healthy. They are packed with carbs- but energy has to come from somewhere!
