If it's your first time in Italy, do Rome, Florence, Milan, Verona, Venice, Naples. The top three being: Rome, Florence and Venice.

Hi i live in rome Rome is big and there more than one touristic areas. I can suggest you some of them: Colosseum-fori imperiali, Near the Vatican city - Giannicolo - Prati fiscali Trastevere Piazza Navona - Pantheon Termini Station - S. Lorenzo S. Giovanni Villa borghese Check out your best area, and you can alsoo book trough this site: http://www.alberghi-roma.com/ http://www.prontohotel.com/gui/c.php?adults=2&rooms=1&fm=10&fd=05&fy=2009&tm=10&td=06&ty=2009&setlang=en&idcity=11097&city=Roma#adults=2&rooms=1&fm=10&fd=05&fy=2009&tm=10&td=06&ty=2009&lang=en&idcity=11097&city=Roma have a nice holiday

I've been using the Venere site for hotels here in Italy the past ten years. There's a map option on the Venere site that allows you to narrow down hotel choices to specific areas of a city. http://www.venere.com/italy/rome/ In Rome, the most centrally located areas for sightseeing are Trevi, Pantheon, and Navona. Trastevere, colosseo, and Piazza di Spagna are also very accessible and you can walk to the attractions. The Repubblica area around Roma Termini is a little further out and a little cheaper. It's a 15 to 20 minute walk down via Cavour to the Colosseum for example. However, it also has very good connections to the metro and buses including the hop-on, hop-off buses. A lot of people stay there because it's generally a little cheaper. The Hotel Accademia is right around the corner from Trevi Fountain and is nice: http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-accademia/ , the Hotel Cesàri is very near to the Pantheon http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-cesari/ , the Romano right across the street from the Forum is often an excellent value. http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-romano/ . There are lots of other possibilities. The Venere site allows you to sort by price, rating by past guests or other criteria either before or after you've picked an area so you can find something that meets your budget.

I'm 22 and am going in August and I am staying in Rome for four days at the best western hotel Mondial, in the historical part of the city. it is located near the colliseum, the trevi fountain, the famous via veneto, the spanish steps, and the ruins. I recommend staying in this area rather then the Vatican area (you cannot stay within the Vatican itself, strictly visit) since the historical part of the city is in walking distance to many things including some really great bars and restaurants (historia romana, i pomodorini...) I've been there a couple of years ago and have some really great tips, have a great time and if you have anymore questions about the rest of the country please ask, i'm visiting naples, florence, rimini, and venice as well if you have any questions about those cities!!!
