Actually in my family (mother side), if someone takes rice or (potato) excessively they tend to sneeze a lot and catch infection earlier. My parents use to call it as "Vai Badhi" . It may be some genetic effect or some allergy to the rice itself. I dont have any scientific proof, but in some cases, it might be true
