Somewhat in reaction to the Almighty God post... Here is a fact for you. Not all Christians are "anti-environment." Not all right-wingers are gluttonous consumers with regard only for their own desires, at the expense of resources and the environment. Not all conservatives are rapists of the natural environment. Some of us - and I dare say a lot more than you think - DO love and care for Mother Earth and her inhabitants (without qualm over the adopted moniker). The Earth was created for God's pleasure - otherwise He wouldn't have created it - in that He made it for us. But we were also, in the beginning, made stewards of it. Whether you want to take the literal Creation route or go the way of Evolution, or Intelligent Design, or whathaveyou, there is one as-of-yet irrefutable fact: that of all of creation, of all the beings in this world, only humans have the knowledge and capacity to affect their surrounding environment in such a way as to change the face of the earth so drastically. Only we, in our sentience, in our intelligence, in our technological advances, have had the power to destroy the environment as we have been doing. No bottlenose, no bonobo, no elephant, no protozoa, no drosophila, no spriunilla, NO other organism on the planet can or has ever been able, with knowledge, conscience, and willful intent, to punch holes in the ozone, dry up the underground resevoirs of the Great Basin of the central plains, drive the abolone beyond the point of recovery, or pollute our own food supplies so that we're poisoning ourselves. We've been given a home - look at what we're doing to it! The way of nature is to consume. That cannot be avoided. Man eats beast, beast eats other beast (and sometimes Man), we all die, we all return to dust, and the cycle continues. But in our sinnful nature of greed and gluttony, we are abusing - indeed, raping - that which has been gifted to us. We're destroying our home. We consume far more than we really need, and in the consumption, that which is not readily used goes to waste. Rather than consuming responsibly, though, we create new materials - and in the same gargantuan quantities - that poison the natural resources we had to begin with. Now, the argument can be made that, with Judgement Day, the Apocalypse, etc., pending, the earth will conceivably be "destroyed" anyway, only to be reborn under Jesus' reign (and this seems to be subject to interpretation of Revelation), so why bother now? We don't know when that will be. Could be tomorrow. Could be right.....NOW! ... Ok, guess not. But could've been. Could be in another 1000 years. We don't know. Why wantonly squander what we have now, when it can be preserved for future generations? That's like saying, "I'm going to die someday, so why bother even trying to live?" There are those who live with that mindset. They tend to be miserable until they finally do die, and their misery has a tendancy to drag others along with them. Why show such utter disregard for our progeny - and such disrespect and ungratefulness for the Gift of this Home that the Lord has provided especially for us - by taking such horrible care of it? That's the perspective of one Jesus-loving, God-fearing Christian, anyway.

hope this helps

hello

I can give you one. The earth was never to be named or called Motherearth, we do not evolve and we never came from APES. We are created in the likeness of God Almighty and this earth is His Footstool...

It's a day It's on Earth I bet we don't get any mail I bet your local newspaper has at least one boring story about it.
