What would be a good email address for me?

What would be a good professional email address?

  • My first name is spelled a bit differently from the norm and most people find it difficult to pronounce my last name, so I don't want people to get my ID wrong. Is it okay if I use a shortened version of my first and/or last name in the email address? I have a blog which is a little related to my profession but it's not as good as I would want it to be. Should I use it in my email address or should I get a new domain? Additional info: lastname.com is also taken so I can't get [email protected] It's a personal address that I would put in the resume.

  • Answer:

It's your email, make it the way you want it and like it. If it's a business domain, use your first initial and last name or first.last@ If domain has your name, than repeating it might be pointless so something like author@ or contact@ will work fine.

People's choice of email address makes me smile. My 10 year old recently got one (even though I reserved his exact name in gmail just after he was born!). He chose firstnamemojo099. We asked him why, he said some people at school call him mojo. We asked why 099? He didn't have an answer for that. Many email addresses are not actually typed these days. They come from companies hiring systems (ATSs) where the candidate has inputted it already. What I WOULD worry about is the FROM name you select. For example. with my 'professional' email address, I always ensure the From: name is Robert Fitt. For my generic personal email address, I just have it read Robert. I mention this, because many years ago I received an application for a job. And the persons email address was fine, but they From: name came into my outlook at something like 'Suzanne Kicks A$$'.

I have the opposite prolem that turns out to be the same problem.  There are literally millions of Gordons. For professional email off the job, I use my initials and expertise. DAG_expertise@ ... For personal email, I use my initials and my nickname DAG_nickname@ ... Some scheme like that might work for you.

Hi ,I have seem people in Google and many other giant companies are using the email address in following way, first letter of first name. last name at the rate http://domain.com/ (may be http://gmail.com/live.com or any other email service provider )for example my first name is danish and last name is shams so it should be like Also you if are not able to find names with your first and last name you can try adding your college name or university name even that sounds professional at least not casual. Also you can look for paid version google account that is http://google.com/a which can gives your google account with your own domain name.Cheers :)You may also like to knowhttp://thecloudinsider.blogspot.com/2016/06/how-to-recover-google-accountgmail.htmlhttp://thecloudinsider.blogspot.com/
