Where can you buy steam boats at?

There are over 1000 members of the SBA, in more than 20 countries around the world, who own over 400 working steam boats. If you want to come and steam on a steamboat, build, renovate or buy a steamboat, or just learn about steam powered boats, come and join the SBA. The answer to your question will depend on wether you are meaning model boats or real boats. Model boats can be purchased from any good model shop. Real boats are no longer made with steam engines, reciprocating steam engines were basically last built in the late 40's. Steam turbines last built in the 80's. The demise of the steam turbine was brought about by improvements to large slow speed diesel engines. and the fuel ecomonies that came with these engines. As an example a steam turbine to power a 200,000 ton tanker would need some 210 tons of fuel per day. A diesel ewngine to power a similar size of ship would need 60/100 ton per day. Smaller steam boats are usually historical craft and are protected boats. Modifications require authorisation.Owners of such craft will very rare;y attempt to modify the original steam engines
