alai, what about using the term "skin" the way it's used online and, increasingly, in electronics, where a skin is a thin opaque cover for something underneath, from a Sim to an iPod? What would it look like if you took your inspiration from an iPod skin an applied it to objects which don't ordinarily have a skin (that that type, anyway), like tractors, dogs, or Greek columns?
