What is the best job in the field of space?

What are ways to get a job in a digital marketing software company (e.g. Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, etc.) as a product marketer without direct experience in that space?

• Based on casual observations, I have seen a lot of companies in the digital marketing/advertising spaces looking to hire product marketers. I have a lot of experience that I can bring to the table but don't have any experience in that market. Unfortunately it seems like the only way to get a job in that space is to have been in there. Considering that it is a relatively nascent field, I find that a bit off-putting but I am up for the challenge if given a shot. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what I can do to get such a job? I know I could do the basics like join LinkedIn groups (which I have done) and know about meetups where I can network with others, but there must be a way to accelerate the process. Thanks!

  As far as roles: If your experience is on the business side in marketing, it may be easy for you to transition to a Business Analyst role in an agency. Unless you did mostly writing/advertising in your job, it'll be hard to transition to something like Copywriting. Some agencies have Planners that do market research on behalf of their clients, which could be a good fit if you have similar experience. As far as how to get in the door: Try staffing/placement firms. Or look for contract/temporary jobs on career sites. Hiring full-time, permanent employees is an expensive proposition for agencies—meaning they're likely to only hire someone with a lot of experience. However, If they see you have some of the necessary skills and a lot of potential, they're more likely to bring you in on a trial/risk-free basis. If it doesn't work out, no big deal.
