What is a plastic I can cast polyester resin in?

  • Answer:

My guess is that the heat from the curing resin is deforming the mold, you could try putting the curing plastic into a water bath to control the temperature. Also, you might want to go with a real mold release instead of cooking products, try a fiberglass supplier they should have some decent products.

As I said before when you posted this, without suggesting the cooling in the first answer, any plastic that can be heated and vacuum formed is going to be so thin and so heat sensitive that the heat of the resin will deform it, as you have found. Instead of playing this game, you probably need to go back to the silicone molding compound I believe you mentioned before and use proper separator that will not mess up detail and contaminate the resin.
