Start by taking a good photo IN camera. A crap photo is going to still be crap no matter how much editing you do. Piknik (or however you spell it) is one of the LEAST professional ways to edit an image, so don't listen to whoever wrote that. Go and learn about light, exposure and composition and you'll need less editing to make them 'look professional'. Use programs like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. Learn about curves, layers, blend modes, high pass filters and black and white conversions etc etc.

To get Professional pictures you have to get everything right (composition, focus, lighting, exposure etc.) before you press the shutter not after. Picture editors can only work with what you give them, GIGO, Garbage In - Garbage Out applies. If parts of the image are burnt out to white or blocked out to black there is no data in those pixels for the software to work on. If the image is out of focus no amount of sharpening will get it back. Chris

Well, for professional editing there is a website called www.picnik.com its mostly free. only the most advanced options require paid upgrade. and there is also an auto fix option that automatically edits the picture for best effect.
