Manmade objects to draw?

  Category Idea: Objects that Move: [Suggestion - fill your page with what you draw, don't draw a tiny little object in the center of the page - try to touch at least 3 of the 4 sides of your piece of paper with your drawing] 1- Bicycles have a lot of interesting shapes in them & they're easy to get hold of and close to to study...Try several approaches using a bike: A- Step back and draw the whole bike B- Pick three different close-up ('macro" to use a photog. term) views focusing in on just portions & details of the bike (just handlebars, just pedals & supporting gears, etc.) & using different viewing angles (e.g, think of the bike more as a sculptural pc. made up of shapes rather than as a bike...). 2- Weight lifting machine - again, lots of shapes, textures, gears that would be interesting to draw - focus in on the details (cables, connections with bars, etc. - don't limit yourself to the whole machine...). 3- Egg beater (hand cranked kind...) - go to an appliance dept of a Walmart or Target & take a photo of one to draw from if you don't have one at home... I'm sure you can think of add'l objects that move or have moving parts - the main thing is to choose objects with shapes, textures & other details that are visually interesting.
