I went to a small hotel in Marseille and when the man who showed me my room found out that I was north american he was telling me how good my country is. Most major french cities have serious bedbugs problems. -living in france is like living in the run down part of new york city, high rent cost, dirty buildings old and run down. Go visit france before you want to move there. Unemployment for people under 30 is at 35% so forget getting a job if you are young. Unless you have a masters degree forget getting a job and if your not fluent in french stay away from Paris because its the only part of france with a large attitude. Housing, no, you will have an apartment. I stayed at a friend whos both parents were lawyers and they lived in an apartment/condo which was the size of my first floor in my house. I'm not rich but I live 3 times better than people who are richer than me in France, think about that, GDP means nothing, look at purchasing power. Who cares if Luxembourg has a GDP of 90,000 if a tomato cost $10 and rent for a small apartment cost $60,000 a year? -Healthcare is free, car, most french don't have they have bikes, take subway and the ones with cars just deal with traffic 24/7. Electricty is lower because france is nuclear but gas and water are more. Phone is a joke, sales taxes are higher and income taxes are 65%. Average salary is 1/2 that of an america, americas gdp is about double that of france when you consider purchasing power. a bottle of water that goes for $1.50 in usa goes for 5 € in france. I love to visit france, nice weather (in cannes and marseille) but I would never live in that dump
