    Well there are no beaches but I LOVED the central area of France around the towns of Figiac and Cahors. The area has lots of lovely rolling countryside, amazingly lovely villages (stcirq lapopie, autoire, st cere, rocamadour) that look like they are out of fairytales, there are a few rivers (eg the Lot, Dordougne). I just loved it all. But each to their own

France has an extensive coastline, but if you want sandy beaches, warm weather and typical villages, you can either head for the South of the Atlantic coast: bassin d'Arcachon or Pays Basque, or try the Languedoc area (Sète for instance). The beaches of the Riviera are very crowded in Summer and many of them are not sand beaches. And if you go to Normandy, Brittany or Northern France, the weather might not be that good, even though you will have lots to explore.

Go to Italy. Or Spain. Trust me. France is amazing but... you can't even compare it with.. other countries in Europe.
