  I totally agree with the person who answered before me, the Louvre Museum would be a great place to visit for the whole family. Also, if you like tourist areas, the Montmartre hill area with the Baslique du Sacre-Coeur is also a good place to get a sense for what areas outside of Paris are like, even though it's in Paris. If you're planning to be in Paris for awhile, it might be a good idea to get month-long Metro tickets. The underground Metro is a quick, clean, and cheap way to get around Paris. If you get a chance to drive out of Paris, the Picardie region is the most beautiful place I've ever seen, with rolling hills and great countryside. I lived there for about a month. Good luck!
