What TV shows are available with Roku Netflix?

I am trying to find out what TV shows are available with Netflix? Are the shows on Netflix just shows that you can buy on DVD? Or are these shows new episodes available on TV?

Netflix is a dvd rental co. and they stream movies to your tv if your connected to the internet via a roku box, xbox, ps3 or blu ray player that connects to the internet. The streaming movies can be tv series but for example, the series 24 was last years series
