What the HDMI plug in do to my monitor?

Is there an adapter that will allow me to plug my VGA monitor into my computer's HDMI port?

    what i found that vga to hdmi cable wont work because vga signal and hdmi is digital and both run very different format of transmitting signal. so my best recommendation buy a vga to hdmi converter box. hope it helps high tech knowledge angel tech guy

Gray area here. If, and only if, your computer happens to be able to output an analog VGA signal through the HDMI port, then one of those HDMI to VGA adapter cables will work. But chances are your computer can only output a digital video signal through the HDMI output, in which case that adapter cable will be useless to you, and you'll need a HDMI-to-VGA transcoder BOX. I'm not sure if Best Buy sells them or not, but if they do I guarantee they will be very expensive. Best Buy tends to overcharge for things like that. Buying online would be your best bet here.

yes, the pcs in my moms school has ones like those. go to a shop and ask for an "HDMI to VGA adaptor" :)
