How do I handle a second on-site interview?

How difficult will Jane Street Capital's face-to-face onsite interview for software developer be?

  • In Glassdoor, there are some telephone interview cases for software developer in Jane Street Capital. However, because maybe many couldn't pass the telephone interviews, there are really no much info about interview questions of onsite. Can anyway please share some face-to-face examples?

    In short, very difficult. But if you are good enough for the job you will find it strangely pleasant, fun, and not hard at all (at least not in an antagonising kind of way). The problems are hard, but not impossible, and you are not expected to get everything right. They want to see how you attack the problem and if you can get to a solution after being given the right tools. It's all about how you think. Also, they will always try to be fair and won't ask you things you don't know anything about without explaining all the parts you need first.

I had an on site interview at Jane Street for software development about six months ago. It was very difficult but not impossible. Unfortunately I didn't do well because it took me too long to understand the heart of the problems I was faced with. There were two one hour interviews. Each of them included me and two other developers. The second problem was harder than the first. I didn't like my second interviewer as much (because he couldn't explain his answers to my questions more than one way) but nothing about the process was unfair. I got free lunch and had access to their pantry. All in all, it was a very fair and fun interview. I didn't pass but I do look forward to trying again someday.
