    Go to your college's study abroad office. Myself and several of my friends have found programs in various countries that were actually cheaper than tuition at my normal school. Lots of schools have exchange programs that will even pay tuition and board if your grades are good. My roommate went to China and she only had to pay for airfare, food, and fun. The countries that do that are often the less popular ones though, like China or South Korea, but I'm sure you could find some good programs in London too. Maybe if you do the research and find a program that wouldn't cost too much money, your parents would realize you're responsible enough to make the decision for yourself.

You don't tell where you're coming from but generally, a semester in London would be a wonderful experience. You'll be telling anecdotes about your time there for the rest of your life. By living in another country you get a different world view. What you gain from even casual friendships will help you understand how people from other places feel. Long term, you'll have an advantage over those who only studied at home. Whether it helps with your first job after graduation, I don't know. It should. It will help you lifelong in your overall working career. As to cost, how much more will it cost besides the plane tickets? Remember, you can probably find part-time work that will help defray day-to-day living expenses...and give you a further insight into life in London.
