Is it safe for an American student to study in Israel?

    Of course it is safe. And, Haifa would be the perfect place to go. The University of Haifa is a really great school (I'm assuming that is where you are going), and you will find lots of people who: know English, know Arabic, and are nice and friendly. Though, even though the Israelis there tend to know English, I would learn a couple of Hebrew phrases, just to get by. While you are there, visit the Bahai gardens. It is one of the holiest Baha'i sites, and it is just beautiful. It also has a thriving economy, and it does have a nickname in Israel as the "city that works", so your internship should really look good on your resume. And, of course, Haifa has a great atmosphere, so get out and have some fun while you are there!

Israel is safe. I know lots of people who have studied abroad there and I've been there twice. It's a western country and has crazy security making it a really safe place to be. and they love americans there.

no place is truely safe, you could be harmed, just as you could where you study now. if your scared of the suicide bombings and rocket attacks, i would not worry. israel has been doing a wonderful job of keeping its people safe. i studied in israel for the past year and i never gave it any though. haifa is beautiful and you will love it.
