Is there any way i can get my data from a flash drive that isn't recognized in the usb port?

Try using it on another computer, or maybe when you plug in there is an option to repair it? If it truley is shorted out, there is nothing you can do to retrieve the files. You can try using a diffferent USB port on your computer maybe it was just that one that didn't recognize it. That has happened to me before, i even had to unplug and replug it multiple times.
