    If you connect up the cam & switch it on in PLAYBACK mode windows will detect it & install the driver automatically if it's not already installed it previously. Then you should be able to capture all your clips using an editing programme, even crappy old windows movie maker.

You hav a Mini-Dv camcorder. It does not need drivers all the drivers that are needed are part of windows OS. You will need a Firewire card (IEEE1394) and cable to connect your camcorder to the computer They are cheap amd very easy to install. Once you have installed it you will be able to capture your videos from your camera. you actually have the best way to back up the videos, leave them on the tape and put them somewhere safe. Hard drives are unreliable devices, if they break then you have lost the lot, If you put the videos onto a DVD then the quality is reduced. Tapes are cheap I very rarely use a tape more than once, maybe twice if its only for family videos. I have some tapes that are 8years plus, and they are still perfect. Just a thought RR
