    sounds like you got a line of bs from the store! most video cams do firewire to transfer from the tape in a dv. without a tape, it would use USB2, and appear as a disk in the finder (all without any extra software) see what people have said about it http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1014854&tstart=0 I think you got the wrong cam!

If the handbook says it's not compatable, don't beat yourself in the brain trying to find a fix for it. Even the stuff that is supposed to work will give you enough headache. Get a refund asap.Tell them that you were lied too, if you have to. You would've bought a different camera if you'd known better. Also, keep in mind that most of those HDD cams record in a different codec that's not widely supported yet. MiniDV cams are compatable with Mac and PC and practically every software editor out there. DV tapes are cheap, archivable, and you can also stick in a new one when you run out of space instead of having to wait to download onto a computer.
