Visiting and Travel in Europe: How easy is it for Indian citizens to get a Schengen visa?
-
I'm currently a student in the US (I have a US visa and an Indian passport) and I am considering travelling through Europe. I am curious to know how easy/hard it is for Indian nationals to get a Schengen visa, and more specifically, the time it takes to get said visa.

I got my schengen visa last summer as a student from a German embassy in southern India. Getting a schengen visa is not a difficult thing. Being a student makes it a lot more easier to obtain one, you just have to show your travel plans (flight tickets & some times accommodation) along with other standard documents. you can get a visa from any of the schengen state, the best & recommended thing is to obtain it from that country's embassy where you are going to stay for the most no of days. In case, you decide to travel to different countries (not staying in one country for long or around equal days in two or more countries), it's better to obtain a visa from the nation which is going to be your port of entry (just to avoid unnecessary trouble at immigration). Here I should also point out that its much less paper work & hassle at embassies of some schengen states then others, but in the end it's still very easy. As far as the time is concerned , it took 2 days after my interview to get the stamped passport back in my hands but as you will be applying it from some country other than your citizenship, it may take a little longer. But still I believe it shouldn't be more than 15 days.

Getting a tourist class visa is very easy. As long as you have the required documents, money, planned trips with tickets + hotel bookings and no police record or any red flags (including for intimidate family) - you will have no issues. Just apply soon since the processing will take quite a bit of time. Have a fun Euro Trip! :)

I got my Schengen visa last May from the German embassy at Chicago. As everyone else has mentioned, it was pretty straight forward as long as you have the documents. They kept a copy of all of them.My visa was stamped on the same day. I am on F-1 visa in the US and applied for the tourist (C) visa for Schengen. For some reason, quite a few people that day came for appointments without having bought the insurance. So, just be absolutely sure you have gone through the list of documents they have posted on the website, including the bank balance you need to show (I think it was 45 Euros per day per person for Germany, at that time).

It's very easy to get Schengen visa for Indian citizens.Schengen countries will give you the visa easily if you provide them everything they want. They don't want to ruin your dreams to travel Europe, in fact they want more and more people to visit Europe especially they are targeting Indians because of the population and that is why all the consulates/embassies in India are in a competition of processing your visa fast and easy.Just be sure you have all the required documents (I am not listing documents again s many people have given the list already) before applying and you will get it.Cheers.

I went traveling to Europe from India. Schengen visa was easy, all I had to do was show proof of stay and enough money in my account to support myself. And all required documents to be accurate I applied to German consulate in Bangalore. Got visa approved in 2 days. More on trip:

Pc Jain Getting Tourist VISA is easy all you need the documents that you can prepare by your self 1.Plan your trip 2.Have Money at your account 3. Make sure your Police record is clean The documents not by self ,which you can get it from travel agent which is mandatory to get the Schengen VISA 1.Flight itinerary booking document(Not the real paid flight tickets) 2.Hotel booking document (again Not the real paid hotel rent)In my case I got help from https://travelvisabookings.com to get my Travel bookings such as Flight Itinerary and hotel bookings documents which is needed for applying tourist VISA (and its only bookings (its about $15 to $30) not the real itinerary with real flight cost(which is reasonable keeping time constraint). This helped me in eleventh hour situation while applying Shengen VISA, also you can find informative blogs and FAQ's

I am also a graduate student in US on my F-1 visa. I applied to Netherlands Consulate in NYC and got the decision on the same day, though I had to wait for my passport to arrive through post.It is very easy to get the visa as long as you have all the required documents (check the checklist available on their site), sufficient savings, and a no objection letter from the university. Sometimes, they insist that you show your registration for the next semester just to make sure youâd come back, even after you show then your I-20 and return tickets. Also, always take the correct size of photographs from the studio that is recommended on their website. It could save you lots of trouble. Donât go to Wallgreens or CVS. They simply wonât be able to give you the correct specs, no matter what template they have.

I am Indian student residing in US (Indian passport + US visa). I traveled to Europe in 2013- Dec. I got my Schengen visa from France Embassy in Chicago. I think it takes a single day as they asked me to pick up my passport with visa next day. I didn't have enough time next day so it was mailed back to me in 2-3 days.
