How to become a better Rugby League player?

  • Ever since I came back from my knee injury, I've not been as confident in both attacking and defending. I'm really under pressure now from my coaches and team-mates, and I was ...show more

I'm a Union sort, but I think the analysis and advice would be the same.. Part of the approach is physical - you need to train as hard as you possibly can, so that you know your fitness and technique will not let you down. Second, you have to rely on your physician's approval (you have that, right/) to return to play as all the evidence you need that your knee will be OK. Third is the hard part: it's existential. You need to make the "Leap of Faith" that if you go all in, good things will happen. It is not subject to "proof", you simply have to make the world work that way by your belief in yourself. First instance, that you can be as good a player as you were before your injury. Then, that you can be better than before because you have been training more and have advanced your skill level. No one can tell you how to make yourself believe that: it has to come form the core of what you, yourself, actually are. That's why it is called "existential" - it comes form and is inseparable form your existence. Good luck.
