  Scan the car for codes. check and/or replace spark plugs, wires, and coil packs. It is an old car, it might be time to upgrade if you can afford it. Could be many EVAP or ignition problems. Google your problem and your make/model to find more info. When you have a problem, you are usually never alone. My guess is to start with the cheap things ie. plugs wires, etc. then move to the fuel system. Try turning the car to "on" ( not start) for a few seconds to let the car pump fuel into the injectors... then turn it off... thentry starting it. This might have to be done a few times.
