  • Answer:

depends on how much money your willing to spend. the del sol comes with a crappy engine. id start with a b16a engine swap. then some flow upgrades, like intake, headers, and exhaust. another would be some nice zr rated tired, for more grip. turbo is something i would never recomend, because this could destroy any honda engine.

Ok well the biggest upgrade you can do to the del sol that would be the biggest increase in the long run is an engine swap. The B series engine will swap into the del sol, its just picking the one you want, either the B16 or the B18. The 18 is more expensive, but has more horsepower, and while you are at it, go ahead and swap in a five speed tranny as well, if you are already taking out the engine, might as well do that. They have numerous amounts of websites with swap kits that include everything you will need to successfully swap the engine and transmission into your car. Now if you do want to swap a 5 speed in, you will need extra parts that would be in the actual del sol 5 speed that is not in your auto. Now those parts are covered on various forums like www.honda-tech.com and www.hondaswap.com. Now from there you can do the easy bolt ons once you get a bigger engine like cold air intake, headers, exhuast, Hondata (a ECU tuning program). You can also do some transmission work like aftermarket flywheel and clutch. And there is a lot of engine work possible like if you want to go all motor, naturally aspirated, or have forced induction, a turbo. If you want naturally aspirated, you want the highest compression in the engine as possible, so you need to get the engine bored out, see if you can get a stroker kit for it, get a bigger combustion chamber, and flat pistons. This will raise you compression ratio higher and then give you more horses. Now if you want a turbo, you need to have a lower compression, so sleeve the block, and smaller pistons, and you will have to do some head work as well because if you want to even have any kind of real boost put into the engine from the turbo, you need to build the engine so it can take all of that pressure. Good luck man, and hit up those websites I mentioned and you can learn lots and talk to people and get ideas of all that you can do. I mean you do not have to do all of what I mentioned above, you can do small simple stuff and keep your stock engine and still make some power.

the potential is unlimited depending on how much cash you got to spend. im sure there are turbos, superchargers, cold air intake, computer chips, bore cylinders have heads redone transmission upgrades, weight reduction on the car itself etc. pick up a tuner magazine search around the web to find parts. but it will cost some cash for sure and good luck
