Moz: Web directories link submission: is it worthy to submit my website to multiple web directories as a link building strategy?

    "Worthy" is the key phrase, as it's a relative term. Will a bunch of links from free web directories help you? Provided they're: Relevant to your niche and Generally good quality Than yes. However, there aren't a lot of free directories that meet these two criteria. In my experience, free web directories are stuffed with spam. Poor quality links, no focus on a particular niche/industry, and occasionally you'll find really bad links to gaming and pornographic sites (which can be the kiss of death as far as SEO is concerned). So, if the directories are good, than the links are worthy. More likely, however, you'll find that most directories aren't worth your time. A link from a spammy free directory isn't going to help you, and could in fact hold your site back if you go overboard with this particular tactic (such as getting 100's of cheap links from spammy directories, which might hurt your rankings in the short term).

Most of the directories links that can be taken easily can be suspicious or can harm your site  . .  If I am the case to choose one then i would like to go with theme based relevant directory. It should also represent some guidelines before the submission will be taken review first before to be listed.

In general I would say that it can not make damages, and there is still some vale from building links. It is a time consuming effort so, i am not sure if are going to get back the money that you would pay for outsourcing the work. FYI, these are a couple of web directory that I manage http://directory.host-for.me/ and http://iosonoqui.me/ . I consider this work as a sort of volunteer work, I do not believe that these project will ever be profitable.
