My son is planning his Eagle Scout service project. What are some ideas?

As a fellow eagle scout. he needs to look at doing his eagle scout project for his troops sponsor. they need to know that they are sponsoring a great organization. It is a way to say thank you for sponsoring his troop. i replaced some doors on an old storage building my sponsoring church still uses (and believe me it was a lot harder than it sounds). chances are that he will have an easier time getting it approved by the local council office, his troop and whoever else he would need approval from. another thing he needs is a backup project in case the previous one falls through. I did that and had an much easier time getting mine approved because i had a backup, which i got approved at the same time as my primary project. that's what he needs to do. also here's a guide that will help your son very much. the guide is on my troop's website. it was designed by one of our former troop leaders.

I agree that the idea of a food drive is a great one, it can be based through the church or a non-profit org. and with him leading it, The Scouts will know that the food collected will go to where it is needed. also, if you do not have one in your area, he can initiate and moderate a "freecycle site. These are tremendous assets to each community. I have owned one,(untill greed showed up through Milwaukee,Wi) and I moderate for another site. I love what it does and allows.
