What are good colleges in new york city?

  • what are good colleges in new york city? i would like to go to school with a campus in greenich village...but i will take anything...i just would like to know of some good schools in ...show more

  • Answer:

You already know NYU dominates here in the west village. But Parsons/New School of Design and FIT have campuses/buildings in or near the village. Cooper Union, mostly known for its engineering program, has a great spot on Astor place in the east village. Many of the schools the posters listed have campuses all over the city including the off village location. Good luck! It's a blast to go to college here!

The New School is located in Greenwich Village. Other major Manhattan-based colleges (but not in the Village) include Barnard, Columbia, Hunter, Baruch, Yeshiva. In the Bronx, Fordham and Manhattan (yes, Manhattan is in the Bronx!). Brooklyn: Brooklyn College Queens: Queens, LIU, St Johns U Staten Island: Wagner, College of SI This is only a partial list, giving some of the better schools, as NYC has over 50 colleges. You need to specify a major to really pick one.

Columbia University could probably be considered pretty good, being an Ivy League school and all. Other than that, Hunter College has a good reputation as a liberal arts college. A bit further out and usually forgotten is Fordham University in the Bronx...very good school.
