Which subwoofers are better?

At first I'd be inclined to say the MTX, but it depends on what kind of amp you have. The MTX is a 4 ohm speaker, the Apine is an 8 ohm. If you have a 4 ohm amp, the MTX will be better as you won't get full performance out of the Alpine. If you have an 8 ohm amp, the Alpine would be better as the MTX will overheat your amp causing you to burn it up quicker. The MTX is made of better materials, polypropylene mica injected speakers are top notch so it'll have a cleaner sounds and last longer, but its got a lower RMS rating and smaller frequency range. The MTX is a more professional line speaker, so you'll need to match it up with a more professional line amp, deck, supporting speakers and wiring to get its full potential. Putting a higher end component into a medium to low grade system is a waste of money.... like buying a HDTV when all you have is a low def signal. And in many cases, the lower grade component will even preform better that a higher grade component in a lower grade system. Bottom line, the MTX IS the better speaker, but depending on the rest of your system, it may not preform as well as the Alpine, or the Alpine could preform better. You need to match the specs of the spakers up with the specs of your deck and amp to know for sure.
