Which is the best portable navigation system?

Which one is the best GPS navigation system in the market?

  • I have Camry , Looking for a gps system which is reliable and very accurate. If you have any good suggestions I appreciate your answer. Thanks.

  • Answer:

I have used garman and magellan, both are fairly accurate. I have a magellan now. The only drawbacks are: small screen not very accurate touch screen limited points of interest (this is actually very important) If you don't spell the road correctly, it won't find it... it won't even try. I was in alabama today looking for Alabama highway 204 in jacksonville. I tried typing it 10 different ways and it couldn't find it. when I finally found my way to highway 204, it was listed as AL-204 in the gps. If I had to recommend a navigation system, I would have to say that pioneer has it down to an art. The AVIC-N3 and the AVIC-Z2 are the newest models. They are expensive, but they leave the competition in the dust. They have millions of points of interest (gas stations, hotels, mechanics, wal-mart) On all points of interest it will tell you the address and phone number. They will also show a list of roads, all you have to do is type in the first 3 letters of the street name and it will list the roads by city. It is 3x faster calculating routes and rerouting you if you take a wrong turn. they are also am,fm,mp3,cd,dvd...satellite, bluetooth, backup camera, voice recognition ready, and the z1 and z2 have a 30gig hard drive for a music library. I have installed dozens of the pioneer nav systems, and have used both garman and magellan personally. You can not beat pioneer period.

Garmin is generally acknowledged as the best. However, they have quite a few different models and you have to select the one that best fits your needs. The following web site shows the different models and shows owner's reviews. http://gps.buyerreports.org .

CarMan

Hands down. It's Garmin. The leader in GPS technology.

My husband drives for a living and uses a Magellan Roadmate. If it can get him to 99%of his destinations all over the country, who am I to complain? He hasn't complained and seems to be happy with it. Run about 4-500 bucks though.
