What books, blogs, writers, websites do I follow to find out if I am taking the correct decision while investing in stocks?

So my first foray into the stock market, and I randomly chose 2 companies (one of which my broker recommended) and bought 5 shares. Now the shares are just sitting there. its been a month. I would like to know if there are some guidelines I can follow to invest wisely henceforth.
