How do I disable Yahoo messenger on my new Yahoo mail?

How do I disable the built-in messenger on yahoo mail from signing me in?

Whenever I login to check my mail, it also signs me in to the built in messenger. I tried to click the "Sign Out of Messenger" but when I refresh the page, it signs me back ...show more

Same here - after signing out, supposedly " offline" being the default now, It majically activates the damn messenger to " available " status. Why is there not an option to make this stupid messenger feature go away permantly. First you idiots kill mail classic, now this annoying foolishness keeps happening........

Im having the same issue...have only noticed it today so am hoping is glitch in yahoo mail. It is supposed to remember your status but this is not happening
