How does the Usps flat rate shipping boxes work?

I usually ship stuff through Fedex, but it's too expensive and I feel like it's a rip off. I'm selling items on ebay and I want to send them through Usps flat rate boxes. ...show more

Spongebob! Awesome I want it.. but I'm down under! :( For $4.95 it sounds like a 1 or 2 kg box, I reckon it should all fit. The flat rate generally includes the box and up to a certain weight limit, like Fedex have 10kg boxes you can prepay and ship them anywhere in the country anytime you want. However the flat rate is also generally off-peak service, not overnight or express etc.
