How is the life of a mechanical engineer in the Indian army?

How is the life of an engineer in the Indian Army?

  • Answer:

The Arms (Infantry, Artillery, Armoured Corps) have the brightest prospects, and till today, all Army Chiefs and most Army Commanders are from these fighting arms. Engineers, EME, Signals are considered Supporting Technical Services and have lesser career prospects than the fighting arms. In the traditional and conservative Indian Army, the Arms always "dominate" the Services. For well qualified engineers from premier institutions like IIT, NIT etc the industry is a better option than the army, as far as career prospects, life opportunities and compensation package is concerned
