How is the job outlook for pharmacists?

What is the job outlook for pharmacists in Ireland and the UK over the next 10 years? Thanks!?

  • I am very interested in moving to Ireland or the UK as a pharmacist in the future!

  • Answer:

The outlook for pharmacists over the next 10 years is good. There will always be people needing medical care and therefore prescriptions, and with our growing proportion of aging population that is even more true. Also Ireland and UK are farming countries, and many pharmacies in rural areas also stock items for the animal population like dosing and parasite control, which is not prescribed medicine. Prescribed stuff is normally dispensed by vets, but they don't keep the other items for animal health. You posted this question in Yahoo Ireland and UK, but the way your question is worded, it sounds like you will be coming from outside those countries. You may need to register as a pharmacist here before you can take up employment, and depending on where you got your qualifications, you may even need to sit an exam here before you may register.
