Is the Anglo irish bank UK safe to put my savings in?

    Savings are safe in a bank to the sum of €10,000. That's guaranteed by the government, well at the moment anyway. Anything over that and id start to pull up a floor board or two.

*** safe as any other bank in the last banking crisis the Irish government guaranteed full compensation up to a certain limit irrespective of where you live. if you have questions ask AIB who they are covered by and what the compensation limit is. the only thing to worry about is if you have deposits with two banks within the same group trading on the same licence... its a bit complex, but if you tell AIB your finanical position they should be able to give you an immediate yes or no if your money is covered. if you feel its critical write a letter to the bank sayign that based on what <whoever you spoke to> said it is your understanding that your deposit is covered, and this is a critical term of the contract. keep a copy of the letter
