Answer:
Carlisle in Scotland??????? Since when. Last time i checked it was in the English county of Cumbria! Anyway, to get there you need to get a Heathrow Express train to Paddington, then a circle line train to Euston Square, where you can get to Euston Station, and on a train straight to Carlisle. Easy Peasy if you know how - use www.thetrainline.com to book tickets (up to 3 months in advance) - lower fares the sooner you book!

The closest train station to Heathrow airport is 'Heathrow 123' which is right in the middle of the the airport within 10 minutes walk of Terminals 1, 2, and 3 - if you are arriving at Terminal 4 then the nearest station is 'Heathrow T4' which is right underneath the terminal again within 10 minutes walk of customs. In either station you can catch the 'Heathrow Express' which will wisk you to Paddington Station in 15 minutes - from there you catch the underground to whichever station you have booked your train to Carlisle from. You can if you so wish instead catch the Underground from the same stations in Heathrow to any where in London - this will be a lot slower than the express but also a lot cheaper - you choose. You need to choose and pre-book the train from London to Carlisle depending on who/what has the best deal available for you on the days you want to travel - choosing a train will define a station like 'Kings Cross' or 'Euston' or maybe 'Paddington' itself. ..

Yeah you don't get to choose which station you leave from silly. You have to go to whichever one is on the right line. As the person above says, to get to Carlisle you have to take a train from London Euston station, in Central London. You take the tube from Heathrow to Euston, and get the train from there.

Are you referring to Carlisle, England which is near the Scottish border? If so, trains leave from Euston Station. You can get there from Heathrow by taking The Tube. Take the Picadilly Line to Leicester Square and then transfer to the Northern Line. Or, take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station and a cab for the trip over to Euston Station. You can check train schedules and fares at http://www.britishrail.com/timetable_tickets.html if you're leaving from the US and want to buy your tickets in advance. You can find a map of The Tube at www.thetube.com.
