I doubt it. Most of the freaks in London live above ground. There are several abandoned Tube stations. London Underground even keeps one abandoned station (Aldwych) in good condition, simply because so many film crews want to use "creepy abandoned station" as a set in their horror movies. I guess that's where a lot of the urban legends come from. The rest of the abandoned stations are closed off, but occasionally some urban explorers make it into them and take creepy photos.

Hey there, An old colleague of mine used to work in the maintenance of TfL and often got to wander about the underground network. He said that there is one station that's abandoned, but still asthetically maintained as it's used for films sets and such, but that otherwise the closed off stations are exactly that. Nobody lives in them, and he said that sometimes people would try and break in, often when the weather was really bad and homeless people were looking for shelter, but it was rare. There's still electricity running down there, but they're not maintained so they can't be reopened any time soon. I'm afraid the stories you were told were just fantasy.

Just another urban myth.

I think you have been watching too many horror films............................ because you certainly have some imagination as none of it it reality....................................

These are just 'tales' as you said yourself. Homeless people actually don't live in abandoned tube stations as security as these stations is substantial because there is still access to presently active Tube lines and other TfL services.

Yes, there is the story of the London Tube train which got stuck during the London Blitz with hundreds of people on board. It was sealed into the tunnel with all the people still on the train. Sometimes when your tube train stops in the tunnel outside the place where it happened, you can hear the moaning noise coming from the burial site of the abandoned tube train - a 1930s model. Something I've always wanted to do but never got around to. Maybe this winter. Chance to get free warm up. London UK 091212.1917

There is similar stories about Liverpool's underground stations, I've been down there on my own at night and it is damn scary, but nothing criminal (or paranormal) usually happens. I assume London's similar.

Yes there is a man who lives in an abandoned station. His hair is made of old Weetabix and he wears Betamax video tape as a belt. He once bit Simon Cowell's next door neighbours knee. He used to have a job working inside a giant chicken selling peanuts but now he runs various internet scams from underground (when he can get a signal). Some say that he is a ghost, some say he used to be Paul Daniels' best friend but no one knows for sure......
