    We cruised on the Gem, 12 day Med cruise, the first year it was in service. Did not like the ship, the food, the service, and most of all NCL's Freestyle cruising. Seemed to us that since most staff members saw you only once or twice they didn't care whether they gave good service. I would not go on another NCL cruise or ship. I prefer Celebrity and Royal Caribbean; much better to us.

I was on the Gem this past December & it's only 4 years old. Practically brand new compared to others...I always find fun things to do on a cruise so it all depends on what specifically you're looking for.

NCLs ships are all layed back and old. Try Royal Caribbean Oasis-Freedom-Voyager class if you're up for an impressive ship. But if you're looking for extravagance and more of an adult cruise (even though there might be children onboard if it was a school vacation) try Royal Caribbean Radiance- and lower class ships! HAVE FUN!
