  Dear Kaitlyn: Bring things that others forget. I've been on 3 cruises so far. Pack an extra towel to dry your hair - there are never enough in the stateroom. A small flashlight to get you from your bed to the washroom at 3 a.m. A small waterproof container to hold your credit card room key and a US $5. bill. Not the tube type of container. More about the waterproof pouch/container later. A cheaper underwater camera from (let's say Walmart), a snorkel mask (even if you don't snorkel) and a box of soda crackers. When you get to a beach in Mexico or Belize, you walk out about 20 feet (not deep) put on your snorkel mask, have your camera ready and break up the crackers into tiny little pieces and spread them over the surface of the water to feed the fish. Within a minute you've got dozens of small florescent-cloured fish coming to feed right in front of your mask.They make great photos. You can tell your friend back home you were swimming along the great barrier reef (the longest reef in the world) off Belize and the fish just swam up to your mask because they were curious (they won't know where you were when you took the pictures). Don't count on using things online in the internet cafe unless your parents are rmillionaires - it's expensive. Bring a pad and paper for cloudy days (or some of your fav games) as you may want to retreat to the library for hours and write a poem or a long thank-you note to your parents for bringing you on the cruise to one of the best travel destinations in the world - Belize. Pack some crummy old running shoes that still fit you and you were thinking of throwing out. If you take a rain forest tour or a zip-line tour in the jungle you need shoes you can wreck.The $5. bill in your waterproof pouch is to buy a cheap souvenir or a pop/soft drink a half mile down the beach from your mom's purse and to save you walking 1/2 mile to get $2. and 1/2 back you can buy the pure lime drink with ice on-the-spot 'cause you have your $5. on the pouch at the end of the string around your neck. The string should be able totightenedened - so that you can swim with it and the room key inside is good for I.D.)
