Theres no cruise ship destroyed in the tsunami in japan. the ships are canceled going there. and they're protected. But its really possible that cruise ship can be destroyed. But before going on a cruise, the ships are updated bout the weather! :D

Assuming that the ship is over ~5km from the coast, it will be fine as tsunamis only reach large heights when they approach shallow waters, leading to the wave being pushed substantially above the surface of the sea. For proof of this, look at the video below - the japanese tsunami out at sea.

If in the harbor maybe not but if far out at sea would be different then i think the ship would be OK.

Well they would get alerted but unless the cruise ship has strong protecting then it will nearly get anything damaged, Minor Damage maybe. Depends on the wave.

I can't imagine it surviving in the midst of a tsunami, however if it was not in the roughest part of it then it might. I don't have any actual evidence but that would be my guess.

Yes, remember in Japan, there was a cargo ship that hit the tsunami head on. It would just hop over it as the tsunami is not big in open ocean. However, if it was near the coast, it would be too big to go over.

jesus i hope so I'm going on one soon

Laura

It would depend where the ship was during the tsunami. If it was at deep sea, the wave would easily pass under the ship, if it was close to shore, it would depend how high the wave was. Many factors matter. It would be the best if it faced it head on, a high wave hitting it on the side can be disastrous.

Garlex

Yes - as long as it's out to sea and not in port.
