Dress yourself in a suit. Now, serve bored, often angry, passengers for 20 hours (long flight, but common in the world today), getting a bite of sandwich yourself here and there. Sure, you get a rest of a few hours sometime during the flight - but you are still in your suit, no home, no bed, no shower. Now get up and try to fix your hair after sleeping in your suit and go back to those bored and angry.... You get the idea. Oh, don't forget to smile. When the plane arrives you grin and smile as the complaining passengers get off swearing and cursing they will never fly with you again. Then a bus drags your sorry tired *** to a hotel where you fall fully asleep within minutes. Repeat a day later on the way home. There ARE of course perks and fun things, and interesting cities, but if you can't imagine yourself doing the above, then this job isn't for you. Ain't no way I could do it - I'd rather be that bored angry passenger... :)

It depends. Usually for short flights on Continental or Delta or what ever, you would work from about 7 to 5 going non-stop from city to city. You only get a small break while the aircraft is being maintained after landing, when you're done cleaning up the cabin. On long haul, you get on the plane whenever it's close to leaving, then you have a 4 - 5 hour shift, then you get a break.
