How long does it take for a flight attendant to progress from domestic, to international flights?

    Well let me say that depends. Sometimes you can join a long haul airline as a direct entry applicant because not all airlines operate short haul. However, for those airlines that operate both short and long haul it can again depend on so many factors like size of fleet, destinations, wages or the difference between the long and short haul awards and ultimately take home pay. There are just so many options ranging from direct entry to having to wait many years before you get the chance to fly long haul. Having flown for 20 years I much prefer long haul I must say. It varies from airline to airline as well. Some airlines "cross-utilize" meaning you can fly both International and Domestic. While you may not be able to hold an International rotation, you can usually trade into them with this system. Different people look for different trips in the career.
