  • Answer:

Have a chicken phall curry before you travel, then make sure you are the 1st person to use the onboard toilet, then sit back and relax as you watch other people's faces when they come out the toilet.

Listen to your mp3 player, watch movies on a laptop, watch the inflight entertainment, read a magazine, read a book, knit, talk to your mum, do crossword puzzles or other puzzles (like Sudoku), listen to an audio book. I recommend taking some type of ear plugs just to drown out some of the plane noise.

i'm a nervous flier too. I tend to take a really challenging word game, but once i tried to learn as much french as i could using the linguaphone gear? that really took my mind off it.

Try to book a seat as far forward as possible. The further forward you sit in the cabin, the smoother the flight. Take regular walks around the cabin, this will help you become familiar with your surroundings. Take some music that reminds you of a happy time in your life to listen to. If you smoke, get some patches. Avoid anything with caffeine in it.

I regularly do the 40 hours to Europe (yes it stops), I can't sleep, and don't read as it you become aware of any bumps, wine and WC liaison is your only hope

The best thing you could do would be book a first class flight! That way you will be in the lap of luxury enjoying the champagne and the absolute comfort... When you book a flight it's worth trying the old ZZZ code which can sometimes get you bumped up... Or you'll be so worried about how expensive the 1st class flight was and how you'll pay it back that you wont be concerned about flying!!

I am a terrible sleeper everywhere else but planes !! Anyway to try and get some rest buy a pair of the soft foam ear plugs, they make dropping off quite a bit easier as they cut out a lot of the ambient noise. I have lost count of the number of laung haul flights I have done and in all honesty the thing I find best to pass the time is a GOOD book. Simple as it sounds but get yourself a story that is pure entetainment and not heavy going and then just excape into another world. Movies and music are OK but as I say a book does it for me. Eight hours is a while so buy a big one.

Watch the in flight films, it will take your mind off it, for me its only the take off that makes me feel nervous. Just remember its still one of the safest ways to travel. It could be worse, you could be on a 13hr to Australia.

I generally can't sleep either, so i occupy myself with the inflight entertainment. If your long haul you should have access to a great range of entertainment on board. try that. You could also get a good thick book to read
