    i personally do not use the airlines website to purchase the tickets becuase there never cheaper, and if anything there the same price as other sites or more. I use sites such as travelocity, orbitz, hotwire, cheapoair, etc. The general rule of thumb that nevers fails me is to purchase tickets 8-12 weeks before departure to insure yourself the cheapest possible ticket. So when I use travelocity for example I pick my flight and then go to the airlines website and make sure that im getting the cheapest price.
