Answer:
Unless if someone other than you has jumped her, and jumped her higher than a tiny cross rail, she is only gonna know how to jump tiny jumps. If she has been trotting poles and jumping small cross rails all her life, that is the only height she can jump. If you want to jump higher, progress slowly. Like if you are only jumping 2 ft now, don't go all the way up to 4 feet already. She wouldn't be ready for that, and You probably the same. Just work your way up. And use her during shows and lessons if you think she can do it. That would be your decision

Well at 19 I wouldn't want to push a horse to jump overly high.. If shes in good shape maybe by time she's worked enough to safely jumper I wouldn't jump over 2ft6.. Free lunging is great to see how high your horse can jump. Set up a regular jump, as her to warm up, then take the jump if she clears the jump she can jump higher, like if you have a foot high jump up and she spring boards over it 1ft6 shouldn't be too hard for her. Just take it slow, and build her up, if shes sound keep doing what you're doing and show her. But learning to jump can be straining on a horse so make sure she keeps her weight (them tbs are impossible ;P ) also be sure to stretch out her legs. work on striding and control. its not how high its how well. :) good luck :)

Good question. Yes the only way to tell how high a horse can jump is by acually having someone jump on them. Good luck. Happy trails :) AND HAPPY NEW YEAR :)
I love horses!
Start small and work your way up higher, but only baby steps. Don't go from little cross poles to huge oxers, just add one pole or a smaller difference to the height of the jump. As for training her, get her used to trotting poles and small jumps. Hope this helps ;) Good luck! xx
