What are some good high paying horse jobs?

The highest paying job with a horse generally is to become a vet. Vet techs also get paid nice, and you practically do the same thing just less surgery, less pay than a vet and less schooling. Pretty much just pray to god that you become talented enough and get far in your riding so that people will want to hire you as the manager or trainer of a big, rich barn or that you win the lottery and get rich so that you don't have to worry about money because truthfully, their really are hardly any high paying horse jobs. People do jobs with horses because they love working with horses. Not because they want a high paying job.

I was a farrier for many years and did pretty good at it until I was in an accident with my pickup.

Professional competition showing, rodeo, dressage, ect.

stable managers often fight a long battle to the top of the heap to get paid well! Just like riding or training for a living, there are those that are successful, but plenty who are great but just aren't at the right place at the right time, etc. I don't know how you are academically, but there is a huge calling for equestrian based law ( there are entire sectors of law devoted to animals, horses, and pets!), if you have any inclination to go to law school. just have to do some peeking around for law schools that will specialize on that. alternatively, if you're not looking at advancing equine protection (ie: against slaughter), you can work in areas that are based on the legalities of people getting injured by horses, or even look into environmental/wildlife law and work for the BLM with the mustangs. that's the only non-vet, high paying job i can think of. farriers can get paid very well, but that is taxing on your back of course!! as far as a therapy barn, you wont get paid well. Like, well enough if you love your jobs it's worth it kinda money, but not enough to consider yourse rich or anything. look at NARHA (narha.org) to see the requirements of running a facility or becoming an instructor. or check out school programs in "equine assisted therapy" or "equine assisted psychotherapy" if you're intersted in helping people with mental or emotional problems. good luck!
