The answer to this question is because average Indians think of the gym as only a way to build up muscle. Although this might be true to some extent, the gym is also a place to get fit, in shape, increase your stamina and in general be healthy. When people start thinking going to gym as a necessity for a healthy life, they would not be lazy and would not loose motivation.

Do not bring gym to your home. You seem to be a demotivated guy, all your investment will go waste, and the equipments will just rust unused in a corner. I will give you few simple tips: 1. Make it an evening/night workout habit : Most morning workouts get skipped for people who are fond of beds, or late risers. In evening, you have full control of what you would want to do. 2. Watch a good workout video just before your gym time, that would keep you motivated for an hour. 3. No matter how bad or lazy you are feeling, just REACH THE GYM . No plans, no motivation, JUST REACH THE GYM . Being there is work half done. Once you are there , there is a high chance you will workout.

Having a partner/friend helps in keeping you motivated. There will be competitive spirit and you would not like to be the first one to quit! Moreover, joint activities are always fun compared to slogging it out alone. Just make sure that you choose the right partner.  Actually gyms are not necessary for getting fit. Even regular walking combined with some jogging can work wonders. Just look up cto5k(couch to 5 km) in Google. Try not to weigh yourself every day. While working out picturize your body fat melting away. Do not be too hard on yourself. Aim to work out five days a week and plan  accordingly. If you are able to walk for 10 to 15 minutes on your off days, it will be a bonus!

Because they can't progress. Most people start with a 6 days a week routine from a bodybuilding magazine, which is used by professional bodybuilders on steroids. Average Gym Joe also doesn't have any goals. You need to set a goal, for example, become strongest guy in gym,win 100m sprint at college athletic meet, lose 10kg weight etc. Most people have unrealistic and loosely defined goals, like 'get 17" arms',look better etc. You have to set a goal, and then look for easiest way to achieve it. For instance, instead of measuring your chest, arms every week, track the weight that you lifted on a particular exercise. If you are adding 5kg to your benchpress every week,it is much more motivating than measuring yourself.

Have you tried other fitness activities? Join a cricket or tennis club maybe? Yoga? Swimming? Aerobics/Dance? Water aerobics? There are many ways to keep your body physically engaged. Some people do not find motivation at the gym. Don't stop, keep trying....

some people cant find themselves in the gym, i dont blame them, you need to find a gym you like and a routine you like or set of exercises. you also need to be in the right state of mind.

I'll answer this from my personal experience: 1) Started going to gym to build muscle. Like a bodybuilder. 2) Started having 10-12 eggs a day 3) Tried meal replacements (Myoplex), Creatine, Optimum Whey, BCAAs, even banana smoothies :| 4) Finally got to know that such bodies are not possible unless you use steroids (or you have incredibly awesome genes) 5) Stopped focusing on muscles and body building, started focusing on fitness (stamina, endurance, etc.) 6) Ditched the gym, ditched weights. Did free body exercises at home and running and cycling on the road or in the apartment complex. 7) Have a kid now and get no time to do even the freehand exercises or running or cycling. So in short, there is no exercise except the running around behind the kid. Perhaps I'll start from step 1 after couple of years.
